Tuomo Rainio is a visual artist based in Helsinki. His art works combine lens-based media with programming. He works with translations between concepts, codes and images. The art works study the conditions of time, space and perception. Rainio is interested in the concept of noise in the visual realm. His art works often present subjects in the constant state of becoming. The images are in the state of transformation where they are not-yet-representations or not-anymore-representations.
Rainio graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the Photography program at Aalto University in 2011. His works have been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Finland and abroad since 2005. Most recently, his works were included in the Finnish National Gallery's Remix the Archive exhibition at Dunkunsthall in New York. His piece Untitled (Gravitational Waves) is part of the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma's ARS17+ Online Art collection. Rainio's works can be found in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, the Finnish Museum of Photography, and EMMA – Espoo Museum of Modern Art, as well as in the State Art Collection.
